    Ladies and Gentlemen,
On behalf of the Lott Leadership Institute, The School of Business AdministrationThe Patterson School of Accountancy and Strategic Arts and Sciences of Eugene, Oregon, we send you greetings from Ole Miss!  This email serves to invite you to join us as a judge for the abundant excellence that is Ole Miss Speaker’s Edge. The dates this year are January 12-132017.
Speaker’s Edge Housing Sponsor:  Chan Patel of Charter Road Hospitality is graciously sponsoring housing for Speaker’s Edge coaches this year and is offering excellent rates for our judges ($119 + tax) at the Hampton Inn Conference Center, 103 Ed Perry Blvd, or the accompanying property the Towne Place Suites.  You can call them directly to reserve your room at 662-234-5565 and reference the Speaker’s Edge Judges Block.  The cut-off date is December 23, 2016. The Inn at Ole Miss has blocked suites at a rate of $179/night + tax, which can be booked January 5, 2017 with Code 3061 for online reservations. Judging:  Please follow this link to register as a judge.  This form allows you to detail your preferences.  If you would like to judge all the rounds, some of the rounds and have specific choices, just let us know.  We cannot have too many community and industry leaders like you acting as judges, so I encourage you to let us know how we can accommodate your judging preferences.  Last year we hosted over 60 judges from across the country.  Speaker’s Edge provides our judges with the opportunity to see old friends, network across the industries and, most importantly, to provide invaluable feedback to these young professionals.
Tell a colleague or friend: Please share this website with interested friends to the Ole Miss Speakers Edge program.  I believe all who have participated with our MBA Speaker’s Edge can attest to the energy and brilliance that radiate in the halls of our historic campus during this two-day event. We hope you will share this experience and encourage others to join us.   Follow us on twitter @UMSpeakersEdge, and see below for event descriptions!
Please feel free to call me at the number(s) below or email me in the coming days.  I will happily assist you.
Thank you all so much, more to come and we look forward to seeing you in January!
    Take care,

    Event Descriptions

The Marketplace Pitch (4-6 minutes): The Marketplace of ideas is alive and well at Ole Miss. Students present their best ideas for product/service development or a course of action. As rising professionals, students research, develop, and “pitch” their ideas to a real or hypothetical audience of their choice, exercising the centuries old art of persuasion.

Informative Communication (4-6 minutes): Whether it is communicating complex or highly technical information to a non-technical audience or training a process or procedure, speaking to inform is the most common form of on-the-job communication. Students showcase their ability to truly inform an audience.

Ethical Dilemmas: Knowledge and expertise are only as good as how they are exercised in the world. Students receive a case citing a dilemma of ethics within a business setting. Students will have 30 minutes to prepare a 5-7 minute response addressing the ethical dilemma.
